Truck drivers launched strike against amendment in punishment for hit and run cases which is – 10 years imprisonment and Rs. 7 lakh fine. Truck drivers claim that with their present earnings range is Rs 5K to Rs 20K they cannot pay the increased fine amount and their families will also have to bear the brunt of it. There are around 55 lakh HMV drivers in the country. They also claim that no one will become HMV driver in the future if such stringent laws are there in the country.
The truck drivers also claimed that after the accident they would have to flee the spot as the public would kill them on the spot and the law would kill them if they ran away. In the year 2022, there were 47806 road accidents involving HMV vehicles and 50815 people died in these accidents.
The families of those who are dying in these accidents also suffer and the price of precious lives is Rs. seven lakh ? Due to the strike, goods transportation has been badly affected. It is important to understand that road accidents are caused by human errors which can be corrected. However Mother India Care in collaboration with Global Wisdom Research has designed a special mechanism for drivers and road users to end this road carnage.
Government may hold its implementation to end the strike because public is suffering due to this strike. Because our economy runs on roads. We are seeking votes from the public across the country on this issue.
